Looks good. Did you hard wire it? I just got one book says 4 hrs life with back light on, so assuming 6-7 hrs with out. Might need to charge it up a bit at lunch time???

Hardwired it Luke. Left a long tail and only temped it in. My plans are to get ecu reflashed, piss the whole ignition barrel off and mount it on the triple clamp.

Anyone get hassled at ride days for having a laptimer onboard?

    Sounds good.

Stay upright usually laugh at me cause I have the timer taped over. Technically your not supposed to so I tape mine but I don't think they care. Not like MEGA anyway

I hope they don't care too much. I have the timer taped over the dash so hardly subtle.

  7. #7
Mines n9t exactly hidden, but not right up in the triple, not expecting them to worry too much. Just wondering on their reaction.

    Cheers!

Like video devices properly teathered so as not to go flying off and become projectiles is probably more there concern.
2015 R1 dash would look great on my gixxer!

Great product the Solo. I was / am planning on hard wiring mine in, but it lasts so long on a charge "not back lighting" it's not been a priority.

I probably should read the instructions, I didn't even know backlighting turned off was a thing! I was going to mount mine where yours is Lee, but key and brake reservoir get in the way...

I think you get nearly twice as much fun time without the back lighting "don't quote me on the time lol"
But yeh it was very tight with clearance needed for key and steering damper, but all bikes are different, plus personal preference.
But there great, clear, easy to use, tuff, and well priced imo for what you get!

I've got it hardwired and it turns on with the ignition. As advised by Marshy. I'd say I'll just leave the backlighting on as it is a little bit deeper in the fairing space than is ideal. Easily visible from seating position though! Once I get rid of the key amd ignition barrel garbage, it will move to where yours is. Love it there mate, looks great!

100% when I get my finger out and hardwire it in, I will do just as you have with ignition on backlight etc! 🏻

Looks great, mate!! Yeah, hardwiring is for winners...
Getting rid of the ignition barrel is well worth it too. Mine just sits neatly on the intake, never been picked up up for it either...

Owen, I was loving where yours was fitted and pretty jealous of that lovely area to fit it! No such luck on my old clunker...

Looks good there. On my old girl, there's no space there unfortunately! I couldn't be arsed taking mine off for scrutineering. I'll just put tape on it and get laughed at. I'm used to being laughed at... sadface

You can cannibalise the 12v cigarette charger cable and hook that up for one bike. If you want to use on different bikes could attach an auto plug to the other end and move it around as a fly lead.
Either that or they sell the connectors as single units, so you can terminate/hard wire a different lead to the other bike yourself.

I'll use the cigarette cord for the ape but I'd prefer to have both hard wired. Might need to buy a 2nd

Didn't you order me just the plug? It was a lot cheaper than $70. The downside was I had to work out the wiring configuration by pulling apart my other bike....

I'm after an additional cigarette lighter 12v charger for the AiM Solo. I believe it may be part no. XMSC.
And sent a pic of the connection

That's the cheapest way to do it. Just buy the connector and terminate yourself.
Or chop the end of the cigarette lighter charger, if you still had it!

Did that this morning on the current ape, just getting no2 sorted now. Jaycar had nothing. I've just clarified what I'm actually after with AiM

Will be great not to have to charge the timer again.
