Chain Toe Guards

Hi Everyone,

Ive just joined St Georges MCC on my way to getting my Snr National License (for ARDC Private Practise) and discovered that St Georges runs races a few times a year (yes ive been living under a rock). Anyway, ive never really given it much thought, but since doing 15 track days and being comfortable in Green Group, id like to try my hand at a bit of racing.

I was looking at some of the things your bike has to have to be able to race, and one of those items was a chain/toe/shark fin guard. I have looked into both the GB Racing and Woodcraft designs. The GB is almost twice the price and seems trickier to install needing to tap a thread. The Woodcraft comes with a little kit and only requires holes to be drilled. Apart from possible difficulties installing these things and what they actually look like, does anyone have any opinion or info on what they use?

Oh yeah, if someone has one at home sitting around that they would like to sell, let me know!

I just installed a woodcraft one two nights ago. I wish I had tapped a thread now, drilling two gaping holes (11mm) for those dodgy jack nuts felt criminal. It's a very nice fin though

Out of the woodcraft and gb one . (one on each bike) i think the woodcraft one is the better one for your money. You can always start with taping out the swing arm and if they happened to strip out then later install the jack nuts.

I bought a graves one fro SportbikeTrackGear I had to tap a hole but wasn't too difficult

I've got a GB on one bike, and a Woodcraft on the other. I wouldn't buy another GB one again!! Ridiculously hard to install, unlike the Woodcraft. The Woodcraft looks 10000 times more attractive too

I've actually got a spare brand new Woodcraft one here, if you need it Mouse. I bought it in preparation for the next bike build, but that hasn't happened yet.

Marshy that would be fantastic mate! I'll take that one only if you are happy to part with it! PM me your bank details Windy and I ordered those Woodcraft frame sliders the other day following your recommendation too! I also saw them on the bike Condor got from you and they look the goods!

BoB, unfortunately I won't be able to do any racing just yet with St George's as I will be away in both Aug and Nov! Bummer, but I will endeavour to get to the ARDC days Hope to catch up one day! You'll have to let us all know how your first race is, I will be very keen to know your thoughts!
