    Yes it is the 16th.

I wont know for a few weeks either but figured a place holder might be required. I've never ridden there before so hopefully I can make it work.

It's getting such a bumpy track.

They should really do something about it

They should put a steam roller over it, not what they currently think works... putting truck racing on. haha

Yeah, just wait until next year, when the trucks have been running on it for 6 months. It'll be even more rubbish than it is now!

Yeah its making me want to go up to SMP more and more.. the drive time seems more worthwhile than WP

  18. #18
Truck racing is just retarded... even more so on a track like WP. And that's coming from someone who will watch just about any sort of racing.

It can't possibly be financially wise to let them race there if you own the track.

  19. #19
And the really odd thing is that, according to Jan Blizzard on Wednesday night at the St George club meeting, Wakey is booked solid every day next year, and the club were knocked back on one out of two weekends they applied for. And there's only a low chance of getting a different date. In other words, they don't seem to be struggling to hire out the track...

Well, that says more about the lack of tracks in NSW than about the track itself... With just 2 tracks there's not much else you can do when SPM is booked out. Plus depending on what you're racing the track being bumpy or not doesn't make as much of a difference as it does on a bike (i.e. Drifters/trucks)

They should really make WP and broadford at the end of the year/start of the year

And the SMP rounds smack bang in winter

SMP won't be as cold as say WP or Broadford during winter

Long discussion on that at St George meeting on Wed that went on for hours ... the short version is the club know the seasonal temperature issues ... it comes down to track availability and working around special dates like Easter / Mothers Day / Fathers Day / etc.

Yes there is a pecking order when it come to hiring tracks and motorcycle club racing is almost at the bottom...anything with 4 wheels takes priority

What a great day. Was my first time there and I loved the track. Was hoping to go sub 1.10 which I did in my 4th session and was dropping 1.08s in my last. Got heaps of time to make up as well. Can't wait to do it again.

I took the Aprilia out for a session and binned it between 4 and 5 haha just lost the front. Not to self - road tyres will not do what my NTECs can.

    Great times.

I was struggling abit yesterday with the rear shock.

My tyres are scalloping. Managed to fix it up in the end after plenty of minute adjustments.

Wasnt trying to chase times yesterday though

Cheers mate. Had a horror first session - Dad went off to get petrol and had my key in the ute haha, only got 2 laps in. Had put on new clip ons and raised the forks 5mm through the clamps to get my turning a little quicker. Didnt realise that during all that all my lever adjustments had gone way out so did the session with the softest front brakes - thought that my master cylinder must have been leaking and that I'd have to bleed the brakes. First time out on a new rear as well and floating around. Came back in with no confidence. Thought about it for a little bit then realised the levers were out and dropped a few PSI out of the rear and then got down to 1.12s in the second session.

What tyres do you run out there Rick??

The SC1 rear I had was starting to tear. I dont know if its because I was a little aggressive on the throttle.

General concensus and my own experience, is you can't use sc1 rear at WP Rancell. Sc2 for most of the year and sc0 when the track temp (not air temp) is over 30c. I haven't used sc0 yet myself.

K3. On a French NTEC. Went out at 24 first then dropped to 22 and it felt great.

Also completely possible that because I was feeling uncomfortable with the levers and getting used to new steering it exaggerated my sensitivity to what was going on up back. After the SBK Pro it was nice to be on a rear that was a bit more predictable.

  44. #44
Different bikes/suspension and etc but I tend to run the french Ntec between 16-21... don't think I ever went as high as 22.

  45. #45
Dan, was that the one you got from me?

Cheers, gives me some food for thought. I'll drop it down when I'm next out and see how I go. I didnt really have any idea. No wonder it felt like a balloon in that first session at 24psi haha

  48. #48
    Then yes it was
Yeah as Ed said you can run that compound a bit lower for more mechanical grip. That compound also wouldn't have been the best for WP. It should feel better at EC with some warmer track temps.

Did you look like Garry McCoy?

This one came from Jamie (medium compound) but good to know I have another in the bag as I quite liked the feel. I really need to learn my tyre models!

What 'should' I be running down there?

  50. #50
That compound would've been fine. That tyre probably still came from me
