When I bought the bike, it already had the TRE installed, but there is a distinct lack of power below 5k, so I dunno if that's typical of the TRE or not, but it's noticeable, it's in the useless spectrum of the tacho anyway though, so no problem.

This is my footage from the crash in the restart of 600 clubby. Talk about target fixation, typical noobie mistake for me.

Looked at the vision I don't think you target fixated, bike in front was blocking line of sight of incident, so you followed him wide as he did, which is probably for the best, otherwise you could of collected him as he braked. Good job on missing fallen rider as you were brushed by faster moving bike.

A friend asked how it happened and I gave this explanation. Does it seem about right?

This is what I think happened: I came on the gas too hard for the amount of traction I had (bike leaned over, smaller contact patch, less grip) so when I grabbed the throttle too aggressively the rear spun up causing the shift to the left and it lost traction. Once it moved to the left it actually gripped again but my front wheel was pointing in the wrong direction so rather than moving forward properly the front wheel became a brake as it was forced along the tarmac against the rotation of the tyre. This caused the rear to come up and rear of the bike turned on the front, bouncing from side to side before completely unsettling the bike and eventually tossing me off.

It looked like you were trying hard to get past the guy in front and dive into 12, just got on the gas a bit too hard and the rest is history ! hope your on the mend

Just complete brain fade I was suffering from the heat and fatigue before we even started and just got worse. Hardly any sleep Saturday didn't help.
I just look forward to restitution, and improvement on what I know I can do.

After the first couple of laps (I was the guy behind you for the first lap), I felt I had the pace to catch back up and dice with you, but then I got caught up by the guy between us and wasted too much time trying to get past him, and by the time I did get past, it was too little too late.

It was Leanne that nearly t-boned Marshy and ended up clipping Grasshopper (the Frenchman) when she pulled out. That was a close one!

How did she even pull up in time I don't know... from watching from the angle it just seems it won't stop till it does. But why the hell everyone caught up so much all of a sudden?

  41. #41
saw it live, was pretty intense, looked like they both outbraked themselves Leanne more so then grasshopper. (I think he is from New Caledonia?) or Ray seems to think so

Yeah he is from New Caledonia. Leanne was just trying to overtake up the inside of both of them because she had more corner entry speed than the other two, but Nick caught her by surprise when he turned in and she had to jump on the brakes to avoid him which stood her up and ran her wide into JC (Grasshopper). It was just a racing incident where 3 people were trying to get to the front, but to their credit they were all skilful enough to stay on.

I wasn't worried for a second, as I knew it was Leanne - and she has skills! I had no idea she was there until I saw her front wheel a foot away on the inside. I didn't realise we were that close to actually touching!

    Fssssheeeeww!!!!! that was daaaaamn close!!!

I learnt a few very good lessons about road racing that first day. Sure can't just throw a wheel on the inside like I'm used to in motocross racing.

Glad we both got away with that one Rob. Total my fault.

It was my first time out there racing along with a few others and i learned a lot from it . Looking back through the front and especially the rear cam it shows me where i can improve as others catch me up and other peoples lines , especially when going for the overtaking . I had a ball out there with you guys and looking forward to the next st george meet next year. Need to get some bigger balls i think for the next one.. or look out for the spiders that im going to fark..

Rnd 3 of FXRRC at wakefield on 30th Nov... Its a club level event and a lot of fun.. you wont have as many on the grid as last weekend (well unlikely anyway as even for St George it was a huge one)

will give you a taste of a different track and keep that adrenalin pumping
