    r6 and head shake

so my 08 r6 is pretty loose

I like loose but coming over the crest out of 3 it can get nasty. Once upon a time it was that bad I got off the throttle early, only to find I had no front brake for turn 4 and it was to late for a second grab so I coasted as deep as I could then rolled on the throttle.

what can I do besides buying a band aid damper ?

hehehe - band aid damper. Me likey.

Seriously though, all that crapola about steering dampers not being required if your suspension is sorted only applies to Hondas!! R6s just need one, for landing power wheelies all crossed up (which happens a lot, cos they are so powerful). I'll show you footage shortly from a few weeks back when I jumped on my spare bike without a damper.....

Agree with R6s and dampers... tried mine without one for 2 sessions. Scary to say the least.

Having said that, just about all the bikes I've ridden would headshake over the crest of T3... even the Aprilia RS250!! I still have the lame-o standard damper on the ZX6R and I use it on one of its softest settings... you really don't need a LOT just a bit to keep things from getting out of shape too quickly. And to me the worst headshakes happen accelerating over the strips on the exit of some corners not on the crests.

I shake my head.... R6 ... back off the throttle a bit and your ok .. my honda doesn't have too much power like the r6's . The steering damper works fine for me ..

So this is clubsport race 3 on Sunday.... I'd just changed bikes, and left my only steering damper on the other bike.

Check your front wheel frees pins well on the stand. I had some pad drag one time and was getting crazy headshake until I fixed it.

I got the stock honda electric thing in mine. I still get headshake but I don't mind a twitchy bike up to a point (pads shifting back is past that point haha)

might try a cheap $100 one from china...... I only want it loose, just enough to fix the crest at 3

haha my r6 shakes it head out of 3, 5 and coming back onto the new section at old 8... Give it more gas and lift the front wheel off the ground?? Seriously tho i normally just ride through it and mine has a damper on it (Gpr 4 set at 8)

I reckon if you relax your hands as the bike starts to shake (or when you know it's going to) it fixes 60% of it most of the time... It's when I get caught napping and try to hang on that things go a bit south

    Buy a proper damper.

None of this Chinese shit is going to do your bike any good!

if you do buy the $115 one on ebay i would be interested to see how it goes and if its any good . For the money i couldn't even make 1/2 of it , there is a lot of machining work involved , even if the damping mechanism is crap .
