BMC or K&N Air filter

Looking at getting either one for my ZX6 but am a little torn on which one is better for performance.
Any suggestions? Pros n cons for either?

Same same.. I think both flow the same or just as well as the oem ones..

only upside is that they can be cleaned and reused.. Had both on the dyno and made bugger all difference.

I've always run a K & N but the latest bike has a DNA Filter on it.
I haven't run it up yet, engine is back next week Yeeewwww!!!

But looking at it i'm amazed at how much more of it is filter than framework compared to the K & N.
I don't think the picture does it justice but here it is anyhow. Who does your mapping Mario. Ask them ?

I got the MWR(since Im dyslexic there's a good chance that could be wrong) and I have nothing bad to say about it. It's the same filter they use on the motocard zx6 so I guess it at least works...

Trev from Doing Bikes always says that the DNA filters come out a couple of hp ahead of BMC or K&N, which rate the same.

Ended up getting the K&N Race Filter from Motomummy $80USD, can argue with that.

So so these come oiled already or will I need to oil it??

They come oiled but it's a good idea to have their cleaning kit re-oil thingy... Make sure to get the spray on! Learned that the hard way

The other one is a PITA to use cause you can never tell if you've put enough oil till you've put too much. And the way you know that is because it eventually makes a mess on your airbox... Or bellypan, if you're me. Hahaha

Ok...I was starting to think I did something wrong...the instruction do stay let rest over night if possible.

Oh I did... I actually left it for 48hs. Next time I'll rest it on paper towel though... Lots of it

I've also stuffed one up in the distant past. The bike just wouldn't rev or idle. After much frigging around, I eventually had to re-clean and oil the filter from scratch again. My guess is that the filter wasn't fully dry (from washing), and the oil (too much too) then locked in the water, and the bike couldn't breathe.

My mate over oiled his filter and the bike was pissing out smoke.

I only give race bikes the thinnest coat because there's not much dust, not like at flat track

Yep, this happened to me too. That's why I suggested the spray 'cause it's heaps easier to apply just a thin coat whilst ensuring the whole thing is oiled up.
