Thread: Gearing for EC

    Gearing for EC

After fitting 200/60 rear tyre to my zx10r it really had a big effect on my gearing.
Did a few checks and looks like the calculated top speed at 13k RPM is 290kph.

    Current gearing is: 16f / 40r = 290kph

    Thinking about: 16f / 44r = 265kph

    Any thoughts?

Easier to drop one tooth down the front.

Sure is Chubb, but don't want to make the radius any tighter on the front

I run a 14t on the front no dramas.

No tight spots or anything in the chain. Which is now a year old so due for replacement.

Plus going 4 teeth in the rear plus a 200 tyre you got to take into account the space between the swingarm and the tyre. You do have enough clearance?

And a new, longer, chain (or several extra rivet links). That many more teeth is a LOT of extra chain....
