    Turbo's Trailer

With nearly two bikes to cart about, it's time to make the upgrade to a trailer.
Picked this guy up a few days ago....
Will need to make the off-road to road internals crossgrade but I reckon I might keep the shower!!

I've been asking this too. I'm told it's easy - just get broken bones, severe injuries, a helicopter flight and surgery in hospital, and they pay you a heap of cash! Wish I had it; it would've made my injuries much more bearable.

Was an add on to my life insurance, originally through Bupa. The rep suggested it when I told her I was going to start racing.
The company is called Clearview. They cover for broken bones as well as more serious stuff.
The cover is worldwide too, so handy for any sneaky o/s track time I might get a chance to do.
It covers for track days as well as racing, so long as it's NON-professional.

Crossgrade complete! Riveted some chequer plate over the dirt wheel scoops and bolted in some Kaneg trailer mates.
The gear all fits in pretty well. There's even room for a stack of wheels/tyres infront of the wheel chocks, between the tubs.
Can't wait to try it out! Maybe get a massive picture of my face for the side???

Every trailer needs and earplug dispenser, I reckon!!

Owen are you talking about the Clearview Injury Cash Insurance? It says broken bones are only 10% of sum insured, I'm guessing that's of either $100k or the $200k product? Not a bad little policy for the price, $530 a year, if you are riding motorcycles, track or otherwise.

Yip, that's the one. As I mentioned, It's worldwide too and covers pretty much any activity.
Deff some fine print but I was covered during a race, on a track.

On page 14 of the PDS under

"When benefits will not be paid"

    One of the exclusions is
"when the insured is participating in motor racing, parachuting, mountaineering" etc

How did you get past that condition?

Awesome trailer by the way, congrats.

That'll be the professional/non-professional thing. I was very sure to get confirmation, before I signed up, that I'd be covered.
I flat out didn't believe I could be covered without forking out serious cash, but I was and they paid out.

So, I was given a battery the other day which was Marshy's way of telling me that I had to do something about my trailer lighting situation.
I have to say I've been pretty jealous of his system ever since he put it in.

The lights that came with my trailer to begin with were abysmal, at best...

They also only came on when the reverse circuit from the car was engaged...

Inspired to do better, I started by fixing a solar panel charging kit to the roof...

Found a box for the battery...

Put some brackets, a DPDT toggle switch and a cable gland on it...

I ran the trickle charger from the solar panel back to the battery and ran another cable from the trailer plug input. This way the lights can either run on battery or car power, whilst the solar panel charges the battery.

I swapped the side, incandescent globes out for LED blocks

Lastly, I installed 3 super bright LED strips for the main lighting, with one firing backwarsdish, for the shelving.

It's pretty much daylight in there now. Thanks for the prod, Marshy!!

Hey Cam, yes Luke is right. Fuel containers are Tuff Jug.
Used to be Ballards now they're called http://www.mxstore.com.au/b/tuff-jug/

The helmet cases were from Tristan when he did Moto-D, don't think he brings them in anymore tho.
The rattle can holder thingo I think was eBay or Autobarn or something. It's just a car/seat tidy type thing.

Post up some pics when you get the trailer!!

Depends what fuel cap you have, you also have to remove the metal basket from inside the tank.

No, it allows for the mechanism to work fine. Think it's intended for cars and lawnmowers etc..

I do like my trailer but having seen Lee's, and now suffering from severe trailer envy of the new Fineline, I decided a little TLC after a couple of years of use was in order.
One of the issues I wanted to address was tyres heat cycling inside the trailer if it was out in the sun for any period of time.
The walls are sheet metal and, in black, it worked like an oven in Summer!

First job was to fit a whirlybird, rotary vent.
Pretty easy install, between sessions, just a hole saw in the roof and a couple of bolts....

Next, after some pointers from Ruckos some vents wither side of the rear door to help with the convection...

But, for anybody wondering.. IT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE to the temperature inside!!

    So, on to phase two...

    Phase three...

    Phase three B...

    Phase four .....

Phase... more.. New jockey wheel handle...

    phase.... eleventy.. Paint the frame...

Phase... ah I don't know... it took forever but it finished up like THIS:

Pretty stoked with the result from few rattle cans! At last, THIS made a great difference to the inside temp too!

Hahaha, yes! I did try chrome lettering but the vinyl was like a thin foil and ripped a heap of times when I was trying to cut it out...

If I learned anything from building PCs is that an single whirlybird would have done nothing for temps... Maybe if you had 3-4 but even then, results wouldn't amaze anyone. On that note, fkng awesome job on that trailer!

That came out soooo good Owen, the white with black decals look great!
Really keen to have a look on the 29th
I don't think the few pics you put up really show how much work / hours are involved in doing this.
    Well done mate
