What did you think of the school? I haven't done this track and after last Wednesdays effort maybe I need some advice/schooling.
No...I'm not loving that and I'm not loving that! But I'm loving this!

Pretty sure this is just a setup and coaching day.. more like a trackday with tips.

Proper race schools are held at the farm, marulan or somewhere in the Gold coast and cost $599 now he increased his prices.

Then theres also grip school, where he teaches you how to slide the bike comfortably around held at Marulan.. next one is on the 13th of sept, which im booked into and cant wait!

His proper school only hss 4-6 students in it

Probably be a good day to do anyway. The south circuit make you work, so would be good for you to get time on the bike and get more comfortable. The plus is that you have someone there to bounce questions of or ask advice. Also having the photos for review after your session lets you address things like body position etc. A good precursor to more formal coaching at th same price as a track day.

Thanks guys. Yeah I,think I need something like this. I'm sure ill get back to speed with more track time onits own .in part I was slow because New bike with unsorted suspension and cold tyres. I used to be very comfy in red. The only timing I ever did was in green I was doing 1.50s with traffic and only passing on the outside back then. That was on a registered cbr900. I was forced to go red by mob that ran it. Not sure what times I ended up at in red.. Most is just getting my head up to speed then the rest of me can relax. Just don't want to jack other people around in the process so would be good to speed that up with some advice and criticism.

    30/9/13 sth circuit Bernie Hatton.
Had a ball. Even got the bullet cam working for a couple of sessions. Tyre warmers made the difference. So good being able to go hard ( for me) right from the go. Can't believe how many tyres and laps I wasted over the years. Wish is tried some earlier. Pretty happy with my times considering the mistakes I was making. Still I have to be realistic as its the first time at the sth circuit and second time on the new bike after 4 yrs break. Got a best of 1.07.54 and when I got good track I seemed fairly consistant. Like everyone can't wait to get back.

we were playing dodge the frame slider for a few laps, someone ended up getting it with their knee.

the highside was because he changed gear, I was talking to him after he crashed.

seems a strange place to change gear?

Yeah pretty much what I expected after reading about it here. Garage was pretty hectic and because they shuffled some around we had some extra numbers in red for a session or two. I did a lot of listening rather than ask.

I really like the south circuit. Reminds me of the workout Oran pk used to give me. And yeah HEAPS of laps. 11-12 laps per session for six sessions. Still got a way to go but really feel relaxed and confident on the new bike now. After watching the vids 4 million times I can't wait to get back.

Can't sleep so thought is add to this for anyone that's considering.

I got there early but still struggled for some space. Once everyone was in it was crowded but workable. It thinned out as the day went when first timers learnt about parking in the sun to warm the tyres a bit and that you didn't need to have your bike in the garages unless you had warmers. Think some expected us to be sitting on the bike doing body positioning exercises.
The day was relaxed. Plenty of time for warmers. Much like a track day without the narcism. Camera, timers and qheelies all tolerated. The times between sessions were mostly spent leisurely looking thru photos, getting a drink and the opportunity to ask questions. It's not rigidly structured so you can opt out of any part.
I booked into green worried I'd be a bit slow for that. Could find my name and was told now in red. Worked out well as I was able to follow faster guys and learn the lines and break points which dragged me up to speed fairly quick. I'm a bit shy in a new group of people so I let everyone else ask the good and stupid questions. All worth listening to as the answers spill to things you may not know or have thought about. And like me might have forgotten a few seemingly obvious basics. At any session you can ask an instructor or marshal to follow for a couple of laps to give more personal advice. I didn't take advantage of this on the day but will ne,t time.
For me this is the only schooling I need or will be doing. Not to say I couldn't improve more but I'm no superbike upcomer I'm just out there to have fun. Even once I start racing middle of the pack would do me. I can't justify $1000s of dollars on various level schools to cut 1 sec off a lap. I feel I can learn as much by watching, listening and participating with people who already race.

I'll definitely do another one next year. The cost compares to weekend track day but the more relaxed atmosphere and the bonus of experienced people to bounce questions off is well worth it.
