My GB's have cracked twice and the engine casing underneath it. The Woodcraft's are a billet aluminium so not hard steel as such. That said, i haven't crashed on them yet so, time will tell.....

My 05 R6 had NRC engine covers and they were indestructible. Very heavy duty looking.

But I don't see them very often.
Anyone else used them?

Stu23 had NRCs on his older bikes. They certainly took a beating and kept on going. Probably not seen because they don't look as pretty as the other brands.

So is the NRC material better for not transferring the impact through to the casing?

Welcome to the club...
there's a few of us racing PCRA on these so if you need any help or contacts for parts let me know...

The bullshitstops when the clutch drops
Hey thanks mate! I would love to pick your brains on the bike after I have ridden it! The compliance plate is 97? Does that mean I'm stuffed for PCRA? Or retro clubsport or whatever it's called in ST George?
I remember seeing yours at a PCRA meet, looks unreal in the black and gold!
Cheers,
Nath
PS. actually, one thing, one of the pick up lug mounting points on the swingarm is snapped off. From a little research, this seems fairly common? Other than using the paddles to pick up the rear on the stand, any idea on where to get some chain adjusters with lifters? Like gilles or light-tech or something?
Thanks in advance!

The zx7r didnt change during the complianced 1995 - 2004 build period .. so you can race a 2004 if you want in Pre mod f1 @ pcra or in the unlimited retro at STG...these bikes are not yet log booked historic so there are quite a few mods you can do.
probably would just get a weld done on the swing arm - saves a lot of mucking around.

Hi Guys n Gals
Have just got the CNC milling machine up and running and have been working on a little project to help my bro recently.
He managed to do his scaphoid at the 4 hr, as those of you who have experienced it, know all too well, that its a pain in the butt to heal, and makes riding a bike for long periods of time in a sports bike position rather painful.
Now the goal was to create some adjustable risers for his SV1000 so that he can raise the bars and adjust them to suit for his upcoming 3 day ride...
The idea was to build as much flexibility as possible without being cumbersome. The plan was to use a set of aftermarket clip ons as the starting point and make some adjustable attachments to facilitate the requirements.
Off to work designing the concept and converting the ideas to images and generate some tool paths...
Next to cut some 6061 Al bar stock and get machining...
First was to machine the slider components on the lathe, then transfer to the CNC Mill to do the detail work...
transfer the program and off we go...
Next was to do the clamp bolt arrangement and bore the hole. Then repeat 3 more times....
mock up assemblies....
mock up on a bike....
adjustment of position.... note the riser can move in just about any direction - rotate around fork tubes - providing forward backward positioning, rotate on lower shaft- providing forward backward motion and changing clip on angle, in out of lower shaft- providing adjustability in out, rotation of vertical shaft, raise lower of vertical shaft....
Next to try them on the bike....
Achieved about 4" rise (approx. 2" over standard) with a multitude of flexibility, including the ability to pull back and to suit shorter riders (like us little blokes)
Test ride this weekend will tell.
Cheers
Little Mick

WOW, what a read! Great effort, Mick. This is SERIOUSLY cool
Very keen to see how well they work out, keep us posted!
What's the go with the CNC machine? This a new acquisition? I've right now decided I need one....

Thanks Owen.
I bought the cnc mill a year ago but have taken a while to get her up and running. She is an old girl with plenty of life in her.
Still getting myself set up with bits n bobs but coming along. The goal is to be able to provide that one off or many off solution to people. Basically turning ideas into reality right here in our own backyard.
This job was the first one out of the machine.
You can guess where i will be spending my evenings lol

Great write up Mick. You do your design in CAD or engineering pro?
This is done in a proprietary cad software called BOBCAD. It does the CAM component as well. I can import most cad formats and models

more curiosity than anything - when I built the 696 was playing with various bars etc ( ended up with upside down suski bars) and know how annoying it is to get just right ... was wondering (out loud) if there was a retail market for these in various lengths say 1" - 2" - 3" - 4" - Marshy ...
cnc some rear sets .. an some of those cool lookin lightec rear axle adjusters ;-)

I have already got a replacement GB cover for the oil pump (the cover in front of the clutch) (which I've had no probs with GB), I got a second-hand cluster housing, as my original one still works.
Probably get away with using the same tank I have now, will be buyin one of Marshy's fairings + tank cover.
Got the lower triple clamp fitted and the gold forks I got from Tristan (apparently from Sean Condon's bike).
Need fairing ... Nick, I'll be in touch in a few weeks ;-)

Sorry linden i misunderstood your question. I thought you were referring to any job in general.
These ones took some extra time as i was taking things slow and had a bit of extra stock to mill off but can already see ways of reducing the manufacturing time. Fixtures to hold multiple pieces and let the machine run etc.
there are various adjustable bars out there but not with the same flexibility and universal fitment. Only question would be fairings and cable lengths which would still need to be addressed by the owner either way...

Don't worry I'll pop back for another chat later this week and settle my debt.

Lovely lady.Loves a chat.I took a jacket in a few years ago and she only wanted 10 bucks for fixing it,gave her 50.
I'd only put a dollar in a meter round the corner (which gets you about 10 minutes)when i went in ,left an hour later.Lucky no ticket.
Has she moved from that tiny shop in the backstreets of Surry Hills?
Yerp been ticketed twice from the exact same situation haha
