Thread: What I did today...

    What I did today...

Fitted a customer's fairing for him. I don't normally fit them, but he asked nicely and was in need. It's not fully bolted up because he's fitting a new exhaust tomorrow and wanted to make room for it. Oh, and I don't have any of those stupid Suzuki arrow-head mounting thingamajigs for the main fairing mounts. But the paintwork came up great! It was his custom design, that I prepared in photoshop and Superbike Source produced.

Very nice. And he's coming to my place tomorrow to hopefully buy a muffler. You must of gas bagged too much cause he was going to come tonight.
No...I'm not loving that and I'm not loving that! But I'm loving this!

Think it was more he didn't want to risk it driving around and needed to get it into his garage to drool some more. Told him he could come as late as he liked.

He actually didn't rock up here until nearly 9:30pm (he was supposed to come at 7pm). Then drooling time, loading time, and a bit more drooling, and he was off.

Nice work Marshy! Sam's my mate actually. I was having a look at the fairings the other week and thinking damn I wouldn't want to drill into this nice new paint.

Thanks Marty The paintwork is great, but it looks even better once it's fitted to the bike - particularly Sam's ultra-clean, brand-new looking bike!

Yeh that bike was pristine when he stripped it down, I reckon he's crazy

The green machine I'm building is nearly ready for showing, and the fairings look awesome on that too. Pics will be up in the next few days.

I was telling him to get a 600 tracky, rather than risk that almost-brand-new 2012 gixxer thou. But at least it's in race glass now, not exxy road plastics!

I have only had the briefest of rides on a gixxer but wouldn't that get in the way when you're tucked in on the straight?

not really, my old screen was painted half way up, there isn't room for it anywhere else unfortunately, my R6 had stacks of room, the gixxa not so much

  26. #26
R6 throttle mod 1/6 turn (went up from R1 throttle tube 1/5 turn)

    stock is the black tube

Pair Valve Marble Mod (until my resistor plug gets here and I can remove it completely)

fixed the battery terminal with a spare from an old battery

Finally fitted my new lap timer mount on the BMW that 'BoB' made for me 6mths ago.

Today I relocated the lap timer button off my RS 125 from the switch block into a mirror mount and wired it all in. Pretty happy with the resulf!

    most likely.

Water Jet the profile, Mill the rest.

working off a sample is easier as design time is reduced....

    Andrew,

the closer I look, the more I work out... now that I worked out what it is ( Mr Ed. )....

assuming your clip ons are below your trees....What is your fork diameter below your clip on? (need to go below the taper on the tube to a parallel section - hopefully its within 50mm or so from the clip on......)

If clip ons are above trees, do you have 12mm of parallel below trees?

do you have a MC sorted? of so what are the CL dimensions of the mounting holes and the outside diameter of the master?

    cheers

    Mick

Depends on which one Rick...Nelso's Trees have taken more hrs than peeps would imagine...but the challenge is part of the buzz.. and everyone you do, you get smarter in doing....

looking at the thumb brake...If enough are interested, maybe worthwhile.... 1 offs are exxy due to tooling...but if enough interested, might be able to get some done more effectively...

will design one up based on info from Andrew...

If anyone can respond with R6 similar info, and I can measure the ZX6...that will cover the Suzi, Yami, Kawi... any other specific models, let me know the details and will work out what is required...
