It works under the seat of my bike, next to the battery, so I see no reason why it wouldnt work under the rear cowl.

James has his under his ducktail at race meetings to protect it from possible crash damage & works fine. Suit hump has worked for me. The new Spidi suit has a hollow section in the hump for a hydration pack.

You knuckleheads are aware that the marshals are well aware of your timing devices.

As long as they are concealed, you will get away with it; but, if you make it obvious, you are asking for trouble.

Now, carry on with your cryptic discussion.

Yep, I never check the dash and you would be unlucky for anyone else to either. As I said, if it's obvious ie. timer on the triple clamp or phone stuck to the tail or tank, we HAVE to do something about it; but, if it's not obvious, it will slip through undetected. It's pretty hard to do anything about aftermarket dash units that have built in timing, just like you can't do anything about the OEM lap timer that's built into modern bikes.

The whole timing thing is part of MEGA's contract with ARDC to differentiate it from race days and race practice days and has to do with the insurance cover. It was all done long ago before bikes came with timers built in and before the era of GPS and smart phones so the contracts and rules are all behind the times. Lucky for all of you rule breakers, the technology is way to advanced to keep track of, so if you do it discretely, it is impossible to detect. Just be smart about how you word things in social media etc. to not incriminate yourself and remember, you're not breaking any rules if a friend decides to time you from the roof and then tells you what your times were, later.

Rotary damper. Instead of a straight plunger-type piston, the damping action works in a circular direction.

I got the H&M same as Chubb, I've had a few problems with it so I'm not endorsing it highly but it's pretty good.

I got mine cheap cheap cuz it's second hand

I highly recommend the starlane laptimers as a stand alone

Yeah, but these are infra-red beacon types, right? Which are completely useless (sorry, don't mean to offend).

I'm just getting in some pretty special but competitively priced timers. Should be a week or so. Watch this space...

Keen as when you get your hands on them Nick. Can't rely on my friendly spectators getting times on me every lap, every session.

  46. #146
No I haven't used them there very basic from what I'm told but do the trick for $100 mark and yes infrared so you can only use them on races or ARDC days.
Heaps of guys In the States use them but I already sell the HM dashes so that spot is taken for lap times. I'm seriously cutting back on the amount of stuff I sell and just putting my focus into to the stuff I import. But I'm still happy to help every one on here out with stuff I don't normally carry.
