best wishes for a speedy recovery
Hi all
Haven't posted for a while as I had some health issues taking my time.
Long story short I've been diagnosed with throat cancer or esophageal cancer to be more precise. It got so big I can only eat and drink thru a tube up my nose and into my stomach. I have finally started chemo and radiation this week. I'm being treated aggressively due to my young (lol) age and reasonably good fitness and health. Initial treatment is 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Then a break before more scans to determine any success and possibly more treatment after that.
So will hopefully have some good news in a few months.
Ride safe and take care.
Hope to see you on the track later in the year.
Randall

That sucks Medic.
All the best for the treatment and hoping its a quick recovery!!
Hi all.
Bit of an update albeit brief.
Best news so far is I'm eating through the normal means ie my mouth. Still not perfect but much more pleasurable than squirting liquid down a tube.
My treatment is finished and now I have to wait a while for healing etc before I get scanned to see how successful it all has been. It's obviously shrunk as I can eat.
I'm booked for 27 Oct for that scan. Results on the 30th.
I got quite sick at times from dehydration and malnourishment especially when the feeding tube was first removed.
My normal weight was 87kg but at my lowest point I dropped to 59. I'm now giving 70kg a nudge but my fitness is almost non existent due to the muscle loss.
The radiation scarring of my lungs makes it a little difficult as I have to re stretch everything to get better capacity. I can start swimming soon but had to wait until my immune system recovered from treatment.
I am finally being treated for an infection in my right lung which is improving every day.
So I'm hoping to do a track day before Xmas if all goes to plan but for now the focus is weight and fitness.
Ride safe and thanks for the well wishes.

59kg? Another 5kg and you coulda been riding Motogp.
Stay positive mate. I wish you all the best.
Another update.
I got some good news on Thursday. After a review of a PET scan I had done on Monday which detects cancer and shows if it still exists or has spread, I was told by my oncology doctors that there is no evidence of cancer and that I can now concentrate on getting on with my normal life. I cried like a baby when they told me.
It hasn't come about without twists and turns though. I was having trouble eating and had ongoing lung infections. Turned out to be a hole or fistula had developed between my oesophagus and my lungs. so food was getting into my lungs.
I had a stent fitted to my oesophagus to block the hole but unfortunately after a broncoscopy it was disturbed and began to leak and cause the same problems again. so back to hospital for it to be repositioned. All went well again and I was discharged from hospital yesterday.
Now its back to putting some weight on and regaining my fitness. Weehaa its good to be back.
Thanks for the support.
