Looks like no more North Circuit? Bout time. What a fucking shit track. $480 for 2 days racing and garage hire, not bad.

Juniors are now licensed to run on the full circuit (it was a stupid State Government rule, because we all know that pollies know best about motorsport safety...."won't somebody please think of the children!"), so no more need to have juniors on the South circuit only.

Yeah, 480 for two WEEKEND days, including garages. Compare that to TONs 700 for a Friday + Saturday only, plus $$ extra to run control tyres.

Awww but I quite enjoy North Circuit. Better start working on some fitness then for 2 GP days

    So keen for this.
Never ridden the north circuit. Guess I won't get the chance now. Spewing looked kind of fun...

I quite like the North circuit too, but just occasionally. Once or twice a year was perfect. But still, a three-day race weekend on the GP circuit (including the friday practice) sounds fricken awesome too!!!

3 days of GP sounds just fine. I'll need to take the Monday off to recover

I might do this just for the track time. $580 for two classes and 10 races, plus practice/qualy and warmup, that's a ton of time on track.

2 days of GP track even in hot weather is a cake walk could have done 2 of those 25 minute sessions back to back easily last friday. North circuit was ok but with your t11 antics Plumb you'd have had a hard time hahahahha, go in there a gear up easily compared to gp track

Great to see full grids, they should run more than 2 SMSP events each year. Even if it was a 1 day event mid year, it would be better than having a 9 month break with no club racing at the venue.

Will be interesting to see how they are going to get through the schedule with the additional junior races though.

  21. #21
So excuse my ignorance but does St George base their gradings on results or lap times?
Some reasonably fast B graders,i am guessing maybe a 35 will get A grade?

  22. #22
    Gradings are done like this:

And then the results are further refined by:

And then finally, to ensure consistency and transparency, like this:

    Was a serious question tho..?

  25. #25
Problem is that is actually very close to a serious answer... many asked the same thing before and most still do. The sane ones quit trying to understand.

  26. #26
Ok thanks Ed ! So motivation for racing, which i respect anyone who makes the commitment comes from personal goals not some invisible carrot to keep returning to any series inc FX?

  27. #27
FX is pick-your-own-grade. MNSW is Jan B and a couple of others scanning through a list of names and making a judgement call about whether they should be graded up or not. They'll tell you it's based on number of races entered, how well you did, etc etc, but really it's a crapshoot. I'm pretty sure it has to do with whether you bought Jan flowers, or whether you've been really nice to the officials. Or are you a troublemaker like me, you get shafted. Some people get missed on the run down the list, and stay in, say, D grade when they are doing 37s.

Cleared it up nicely; although i am still as confused as a newborn in a tittie bar!
Officials keeping it random i think.

  29. #29
Huh? Am I the only one paying extra money to stay D grade coz I like the pink vest?

  30. #30
There's a cheaper way to do it but I do not recommend it

I'd like to address it once and for all, as nobody seems to be doing anything. Here are some similar thoughts from a couple years ago: http://tarmactalk.com/forum/showthre...ull=1#post4766

Oh i see this has been discussed at length before my time on here sorry.
Reason for my questions is been struggling with motivation to push harder lately so basically just rippin $50's and having a nice day out.
Just thinking of options to place my hard earned.

  36. #36
The motivation is always the guy in front!

  37. #37
Racing should be its own reward yada yada yada.

Seriously tho, the way it is now, it should be fairly straightforward to work your way towards a podium in your grade and class. Any easier and it'll just be a participation trophy.

Oh, except if you're in Superbikes/Unlimited. That's pretty competitive. Why do you think I'm always in Clubsport, or Bears, or ProTwins. I can't seriously compete with the likes of Mike Jones etc, and I don't expect to. I can grid up with them on the same grid tho, and that's tops!! But I don't enter ASBK expecting to win a trophy. St George, yeah hopefully, if I'm good enough on the day I'll probably do ok. But it wasn't that long ago I couldn't win a trophy to save my life. Practice, perseverance etc

Racing really is it's own reward though, never have I had so much intense, almost overwhelming fun, nor met some of the most helpful, friendly, excitable bunch of idiots outside of the legal injecting rooms in Kings Cross.

I think they were generally healthier with more money in their bank accounts though.

Hey I resemble that remark ...

Linden - Bears F5 (4 entries - wow big grid) and TwinSprints (2 entries - about normal)

    A solid plan there Carl.

    Mine goes roughly like this;

1: Realise Thursday afternoon I still have coolant in the bike.

2: Rush off to supercheap/bunnings to replace the 8 litres of distilled water I kicked over/spilled/set fire to or lost.

3: Round off a nut of two removing something. Lose a little skin from my knuckles and somehow ear getting this sorted.

4: Neglect to use torque wrench putting things back together, tighten something until it goes loose again.

5: Curl up in a ball, cry myself to sleep around 4am Friday morning.

6: ARDC day, race, race, laugh, drive home, fall asleep.

Might have missed a step or two.
