What to do on a cold and wet and very windy Sunday in Canberra?

spent the morning in the hills on the dirty then after lunch when it started to rain changed the oil on the race bike and put new tyres on ready for Rd2 of FXRRC meet in a couple of weeks

    Well on Saturday
Added in a Overflow bottle for the commuter while my HRC jobbie is on order

Then used an old switch I had lying around to do a manual fan override while I wait for my new handlebar switch to arrive

Square nut inside a grommet, a washer over that to stop it pulling through then another half grommet on top and Loctite 406 the lot... It's solid 🏻

Converting 99-02 R6 to Race shift

    cheers Marshy & Sicko

riding it road pattern after riding the other bike in race pattern lasted about 1.3 laps....

For those searching this thread in the future, this mod requires taking the lower rear engine mount bolt out and inserting it from the RHS of the bike. Then a custom nut (approx. 72mm long) is made and installed with a M10x1.25 (metric Fine) thread onto the end of the bolt. The other end of the nut has a M8x1.25 thread that will allow mounting of the shift lever.

Next a custom shift lever is made, with the hole centres for the linkage end, pivot point and toe peg all on the same axis. The Pivot bush and bolt are used from the original lever (need to tap the bush out). The pivot hole is 16mm, and the linkage and toe peg threads are M6.

Finally, the shift linkage is shortened (remove the M8 LH thread end) and threaded with an M6 thread for a rod end. Ideally you want a LH threaded rose joint and taps to suit, but not a biggy if you only have RH thread as you don't adjust these very often once they are set up.

The lever arm on the gearbox is mounted upside down( steps away from the gearbox) and horizontal (instead of vertical) with the linkage mounting vertically in behind the overflow bottle.

This also works for stock rear sets.

    Will post some pics tomorrow...

Not far off now, Lee! Looking great.
Did you need to do much prep to the bumpy bits or does the vinyl mask a lot of that?
